This Just In - A Star on the Rise

The Planeswalker's Stronghold has opted to push back the announcement previously scheduled for today, in order to put the spot light on one of our own.

Chapel Hill resident Daniel Schoenbach (aka Shoebox) finished in first place at Saturday's Pro Tour Austin Qualifier with a huge 10-1-1 record at the end of the day (7-1-1 before the cut).

Ever since his humble beginnings in that log cabin in the back woods of Arkansas, Daniel has been destined for great things. Since his record setting graduation from MIT at the age of 14, Daniel has used his keen intelligence in order to make the world a better place. Daniel plans to go full time into the Magic Life, quiting his nearly 20 year career as head of the CIA's satellite communications division. Sure everyone thought he worked for PBS, but nobody really works for PBS.

Unfortunately, due to the unexpected nature of this bulletin, not all the information presented have been confirmed at this time. Perhaps Daniels will find time between his Pro Tour plans, CIA responsibilities, and PBS cover story to give us some of the details of this event.

Shards of Alara: Budget Collection Deck Building

Welcome back. Today we will attend the Shard of Alara prerelease event and use our $20 budget to participate in the open dueling event. I am pleasantly surprised to find that in addition to the 41 card Intro deck, and 15 card booster pack, that we also receive the foil promo card for the event. Although Wizards definitely trumped my last article, I really feel like I nailed the content of the new intro packs pretty well, and find myself in familiar territory sitting down for this article. I have selected a Bant Intro pack for our purposes. Although it is not the most budget friendly of the intro packs, I feel like it's theme lends itself to the budget/new player the most and is really easy to play. For our $12 investment in the prerelease open dueling event we will get the intro pack, a random booster, and the foil prerelease card. I'm also going to recommend something a little different, and visit our local budget friendly game store and pick up a play set of the none cha

and Now for Something Completely Different

Well, maybe not completely different. I often use this platform to talk about something I've heard related to Magic the Gathering . Today I'm going to talk about something I have heard more and more. Sometimes in life, media, and imagination somethings take on a life of their own, becoming more then sum of their parts, and reaching beyond the scope and measure of the seed thought which spawned them. Recently it has come to my attention that something as simple as a color, has done just that. We've come together today through the force and will of pink . For a year now this simple blending of red and white has brought people together from all across the globe, inspired and renewed friendships, shared hopes, dreams, and passions of individuals. It has in some small but measurable way, changed the world, and the people in it. I have thought that I was beyond the scope of this phenomenon, as beyond an impressive collection of scars, I really have nothing pink in my life. Let

Check out my newest card for First Reminder: Not bad for my first piece of altered artwork. I like it at least.
